Volunteering in Querétaro
Giving back to the community is one of the principles upon which the Querétaro Language School was founded. Almost 40 million Mexicans live below what the United Nations has defined as the poverty line. With limited access to health care, educational opportunities and good jobs, Queretaro’s poor—like those elsewhere in Mexico—live without the hope of a better future.
At the Querétaro Language School we give back to the community in two ways: firstly, by donating our time and facilities; and secondly, by coordinating volunteer opportunities for our students with local non-profit organizations (NGOs). We offer free English classes at our school to underprivileged children. We also offer our facilities free of charge for events and gatherings sponsored by local NGOs.
The Queretaro Language School maintains a list of local NGOs and contact information for students interested in exploring the volunteering opportunities offered by them. QLS stands ready to help its students arrange interviews with local NGOs. It donates 5 percent of a student’s weekly class fees to any local NGO to which the student donates 10 or more hours of labor per week.
IIf you find a charity other than those on our list, contact us with the organization’s information and we will work with you to make needed arrangements.
